An empirical research article is a scholarly article in which the authors themselves have conducted the research described in the article.

Limiting searches to return only empirical research articles

The PsycINFO database allows you to limit a search result by methodology. 

But many online indexes/databases--such as ERIC--don't provide a specific limiting feature for empirical research articles. Instead, try limiting your search by adding one or more of these words to your search: research or study or empirical or qualitative or quantitative.
